Quick report on the Squash Club AGM; interested in playing in a team?

, Monday night's AGM was a success: los of discussion and ideas and some laughs too. Here are the highlights: Status Updates Budget: the budget is healthy and SSCC generously reimbursed all our claims for 2014. Biggest outgoing this year will be court refurbishment (Court 3) and training. Grips and Balls: Members are reminded that these are available at the ESCAPE reception and heavily subsidised by the club. There is also a stringing machine; if you need help ask Clive Edwards or Alph Doamekpor for a help session at lunchtime. Gijs Cup: This was held in December, less participants than usual due to the timing. Online tools: General appreciation for the new tool. The Mini-League (ML) will only be reported online from now onwards, no more paper! When logged into the booking system click on "Leagues" on the website to fill in your score. Court Repair: some delay experienced from Site Services, the approval has been on someone's desk since early November it seems. ACTION: Simon to keep chasing! Training: Going well as we now have kindly invited any level of player to be trained. If you are not sure, come along to one of the two sessions starting at 5pm and 6:30 pm on Wednesdays. Cost is 50 Eurs per year, a real bargain as we have a very professional trainer; 1st session is free. Kids Training: Going very well, with 14 kids of various ages participating to 2 classes on Saturdays: Beginners (from 15.00 till 16.00/16:30); Advanced (from 15:30 till 16.30/17.00). Contact Matteo Tacconi if you are interested. Mini-League awards Congratulations to Yves Levillian, winner of the ML 2014; to Anna Reinsoo best female in the ML 2014; and Chris van der Hagen, best newcomer! New Ideas/Discussion List of ideas follows: *Fielding an ESTEC Squash team. Until 2014 ESTEC have fielded 1-2 teams in local dutch league. Matches are played on Friday evenings. We now have 3 volunteers to make a team in pool 3 and need a few more players. If you are interested, please contact Simon Weinberg, *Lunch-time training: Action Robert to get prices and availability of trainer *Mentoring New Players: Yves, Bob, Simon, Clive are available to play a game with new players and show them the basics. Clive will coordinate. Other volunteers please let Clive Edwards know. *Squash Rules Training: will be organised as part of next Gijs cup in May, Michel coordinating. *Next Gijs cup: will be organised in May: 3 groups without handicapping. Food and drink and a more social event will be organised, with squash rules training and possibly demonstration match. *Camera: not being used enough. Action: Clive & Daniel Steel will share responsibility to get more use out of it in Training on Wednesdays. *PSA online watching matches: Action Michel to investigate license. If you are interested to watch Squash professionals playing online, contact Michel Tossaint. *Watching NL play-offs: Action Sylvain Prezelus to investigate, contact Sylvain if you're interested. *Recruitment drive: Action Simon to organise a desk at the cafeteria. Election Simon Weinberg was reconfirmed as Chairman Michel Tossaint was reconfirmed as Treasurer Clive Edwards was elected as Secretary. Our thanks go to the following people who helped out this year: Bob (website) Matteo (Kids Squash) Liz Winzer (kids squash trainer) Mary Gilles (Trainer private lessons) Dave Scholtes (Trainer) Clive and Alph (Video camera, Stringing) Rob (Training organisation) ..and anyone else I've missed out! If you need any more info please contact the committee! Keep squashing!
