Squash club - being considerate

Dear All,

I hope you are all enjoying 2023 and playing lots of squash :-)

Unfortunately a few things have happened recently which lead me to drop you all a line with a few reminders of the kind of etiquette the committee would expect from you all. So here are a few golden rules which people should follow:

1. Balls and grips are available at reception in the cupboard, for 1 or 2 Euros respectively. Please pay.
So far 30 Euros worth of these have been stolen. These days there is not always an Escape manager on duty - so the expectation is that we trust people to leave money in the box when they take something from it. If you need something and don't have change, please take what you need and contact me and I will send you a Tikkie.
Anyone wishing to reimburse me for balls/grips they forgot to pay for, please drop me a line.

2. Use of shoes and racquets
These are provided in the squash cupboard. Key is available at reception. These shoes/racquets are available as a stop-gap for beginners, or to help out people who forgot their gear.
- please do not continue to use the shoes and racquets as though you own them. Go out and buy the needed equipment.
- please do not use the shoes for other sports. They are for squash only
- When you take the key, you should sign the book on the reception counter to say you have taken it.

3. Non-black soles
The courts have been marked by people using shoes that have black soles. These are banned: please only use non-marking soles. Material left on the court floor creates slippery surfaces and accidents.

4. Booking a court and not using it
Please consider others, and cancel courts you don't use, even if its 5 minutes before.

I realise that this email doesn't apply to most of us. I hope those of you who have abused the trust we assume with our members can take them into account going forward. Anyone not obeying these golden rules will unfortunately be asked to leave the club.

With very best wishes to everyone!
